I'm a sixty-nine year old psychotherapist, just emerging from my adolescence- it's the American way- and trying something like Live Journal for the first time. I'm married, as straight as anyone who lived through the sixties, seventies and eighties can be said to be, and I have two grown offspring who live in the area. I put some effort into maintaining my body (watching what I eat and working out regularly) and my mind (by staying intellectual active and curious). My spiritual path can be described as NeoPagan, although I rarely attend gatherings or large public workings anymore. The avocation that means the most to me is singing. I sing jazz- standards, ballads, upbeat, blues- all kinds of music. I do (mostly unpaid) gigs with solo piano or small groups, when and wherever I can, mostly in the East Bay. My closest friends include my spiritual circle, eight people (or so), with whom I've circled and socialized for many years, and a large, unruly, oddly organized mob who call themselves Hobbits. Don't ask.
I'm initiating this online persona for the same reasons we all seek community: there are subjects I'd like to discuss with people I haven't met yet. About maintaining a journal, well, we'll see. I've carried a succession of journals, in book form, for nearly thirty years. At this stage of my life, I doubt if I'll make more than a partial shift to my Mac's screen.
That should do it for now; I'm a shrink, a singer and a person with a broad range of interests.
Oh, one more thing: my friends call me Buffalo.
